The complexity problem

The company operates on a grand scale, serving multiple sectors with a broad range of services. The main challenge we faced, was how to convey this intricate web of sectors and subsectors on the website in a way that wouldn't confuse or overwhelm users. The information architecture shown below visualizes exactly that problem and put us to a challenge of untangling the knot.

Schulz Navigation

Our objective became to manage and simplify the presentation of this complexity for an external audience. The result of this process was a navigation thats following those principles and aiming to provide a user-friendly solution.

Wireframing

We needed a basic construct to designated the kind of components we want to create, set a tone for the general layout of the website and a way to work with all the different kinds of content provided by the client. The outcome was a set of wireframes, creating the underlying guideline for the Interface to be created.

Design System

To ensure consistency throughtout the entire experience we had to define a system of colors, typography, components and general rules to follow during the design process. Basically the look and feel of the new Schulz Systemtechnik.

Colors

The colors are derived from the existing brand color, being a certain tone of red, an anthrazite-type black and white to give us enought contrast throughout components to make a visualization of such pleasing and clearly distinguishable

Schulz 2.0

After the creation of additional design elements like a set of dynamic vector-graphics, certain blurry elements throughout the page and the creation of all the different types of components we arrived at a modern-looking, sophisticated look for a highly technological company. On-site photoshootings provided the imagery needed to support the content and take the user on a journey that is all Schulz. The new website is also scalable and easily maintainable, ensuring that the website can grow and adapt.
