Realizing a vision - NUNA°A Expeditions

Project scope:

NUNAA Expeditions represents the latest venture from a major cruise travel agency, expanding beyond traditional expedition cruises. NUNA°A is dedicated to providing an unforgettable experience for every traveler, no matter their destination. Each expedition is a unique journey, taking customers to extraordinary, secluded locations worldwide, including the vast worlds of the Arctic and Antarctica and remotes islands in West-Papua.
Not just did we create a new look from the ground up, but also an online space, where the imagery can live up to its potential. We aimed to emphasize the high-end nature of our offerings while making the website appealing and user-friendly for a wide age range of users.

Breaking conventions

Based on the structure of information we wanted to move away from the common navigation and created a sophisticated filtering system to guide the user through available content, inspire him/her and guide them to where they want to end up, without having to make too many decisions. We wanted to let the user go with the flow.

This led to a landing section where the user doesnt have to choose where to go, but can dabble, try things and see where the journey takes him.

To go ahead and create the fundamental basis for this landing section and the wireframes that follow, we had to keep in mind the various types of user with different motives, different levels of knowledge about the content to be expected and different experiences.
Key considerations also consistet the implementation of reusable categorization across the site, enhancing search engine optimization, and simplifying the process future addtitions and changes.



Wireframing

During the wireframing process we focused on maintaining a visually pleasing and intuitive experience that incorporates the different types of content and requirements of such.

While the landing page is supposed to give an overview of the available contents, the specific "Expedition Page" (second wireframe) aimed to already incorporate all the information a user might need - i.e. different milestones of the cruise, or the placement and pricing of cabins - independently of their prior knowledge of current user goals. We also created a flow for possible inquiries that allowed the user to create a more or less specific request of information in a way that is accessible for all user groups.

Design System

When it comes to the look of NUNA°A we let ourselves be inspired by the extraordinary imagery and the unique locations a user might visit on his travels.

Imagery

The imagery as previously mentioned is the driving factor of the NUNA°A Experience and creates the basis upon which the entire look of the project relies.

Colors

The colors are derived from the main visuals rotating in the landing section of the website. Its a strong and visually captivating collection offering a wide variety of usage and providing enough contrast and room for classification to use in an online space with different sections.

Take a peek into the incredible visual experience and imagery we created by focusing on user groups and information architecture. We threw out the window what wasnt needed and built a website concentrated on an enjoyable user journey that resembles the beauty of the products advertised.
